Women
Sexual exploitation/trafficking happens everywhere—yes, even right here
in Phoenix. Sexual victimization
of children/teens is overwhelming in magnitude, yet largely unrecognized and
underreported. Research indicates
that 1 in 5 girls and 1 in 10 boys will be sexually exploited
before they reach adulthood.
Today, there are millions of children who are bought and sold as sexual
and economic commodities. Because
of this, the children’s sense of dignity, identity and self-esteem is
undermined and their capacity for trust is gone forever.
This presentation, There Are No Pretty Women, introduces you to the real world of
teens who have been lured and trapped in the life. It reveals stark
statistics and every day trafficking practices. It exposes the risks today’s teens encounter and some key
strategies for parents/guardians to observe. The purpose of the presentation is to raise community
awareness of the issues and concerns of this problem and provide parents and
teens with some safety tips and guidelines.
